Evening Craziness

For the past 2 weeks, we’ve been doing our best to find a good evening routine at home. I don’t feel like we are having much success. Here is what we do so far:

Leave work ~3:30

Pick up daughter from daycare ~4:15

Get home ~4:45

Feed baby ~5:00

Bath ~6:15

Pj’s, bottle, sing and cuddle time

Asleep ~6:45

I should probably mention that she wakes up between 5:00 and 6:15 in the morning. We have to leave the house by 6:30am at the latest to get her to daycare/work on time.

What I don’t mention above is that we do our best to clean the house, laundry, dishes, play with her all before she falls asleep. Our house isn’t very big, so she can hear us if we’re making too much noise. I tend not to do too much while she’s sleeping.

I’m not sure if there is any way for us to make this easier on ourselves. Is this kind of craziness normal? What are your evenings and mornings like? Will it get better? Do you have any tips/advice for us?

  1. It does get better! I was thinking this week, as I changed the sheets, how changing the sheets used to be a “whenever I got around to it” kind of activity – when the kids were babies. It’s all about survival mode – keep the kid fed, make sure he sleeps, and everything else can wait. Once everyone is toilet trained and going to bed after 7 p.m. – you can get back on a regular schedule. Until then – it’s okay to just do what you can. It’ll get better, promise!
